Glasgow Village is a neighborhood of over 1,700 homes and a population of approximately 4,000 residents. It is nestled among areas of woods, grassy areas, and well-established trees. The mighty Mississippi River is close by. The houses were built in the early 1950’s. Some of our residents are original owners while others have lived here for many years. We also have many new residents. The number of our younger people age 19 and under makes up about half of our total population.
One of our community assets is over 80 acres of open park space (we call it the common ground). Please view the map to see how close you are to this open area. Quite a few of our residents’ back yards look out to the common ground. The annual assessment of $14.50 for each property owner pays for the common ground to be mowed and also maintains the equipment.
We are largely an area of residential housing. The “shopping center” at the corner of Spring Garden and Shepley has been allowed to go into disrepair by the owners and was recently shut down. We do have a seemingly thriving business on Shepley called TJ’s Pizza Company. They are a fund-raising company and many schools and organizations sell their pizzas to earn money. There are two churches located fairly close to each other on Shepley. Oasis of Love Fellowship Church and Temple of Deliverance Outreach Fellowship are west of Spring Garden. Their contributions to our community are appreciated. We are fortunate to have a St. Louis County Police Substation at 607 Shepley. The trustees’ as well as the lighting district officials’ office is in the back of the building.
